You’re invited to meet Ari Berman, political correspondent for The Nation, and Derek Cressman, 2014 California Secretary of State candidate, to discuss two of the most critical issues facing our democracy: voting rights and big money in politics.
RSVP below! Join Berman, Cressman, Common Cause, and the ACLU of Northern California on Thursday, February 18, for a book signing and discussion about how we can move toward a more inclusive democracy.
In recent months, Berman and Cressman have released groundbreaking new books that examine these pressing issues. Cressman’s new book, “When Money Talks: The High Price of Free Speech and the Selling of Democracy," gives us the tools, both intellectual and tactical, to fight back the increasing influence of money in politics. In "Give Us the Ballot: The Modern Struggle for Voting Rights in America," Berman gives us a history of the Voting Rights Act and documents the current backlash against voting rights that aims to keep marginalized groups out of the voting booth.
Meet the Authors! RSVP below to attend our book signing and democracy discussion with Ari Berman and Derek Cressman.
Books may be purchased at the event, and you can reserve a copy of each book on the registration page. Please note that only cash or check will be accepted at the door.
